Creative writing workshop 

Creative writing workshop hosted by local U3a. Please see bookable events and book to secure your place as this is a limitied numbers event.

Join us with a short exercise to see what ideas you come up with a subject and 5-10 minutes to write about it.

Within the hour you will get a chance to:

Objectives:

1. Write about a random subject and gain confidence.

2. Read your work and listen to others’ work.

3. Realise your ability in creating interesting work

4. Learn from others: how they approach the task and techniques they use

5. Create a display of everyone’s pieces to show the diversity of approaches and ideas generated from a single subject.

‘Rules’

1. Write in any form you like: prose, poetry, limerick, haiku, etc

2. Write something fictional or factual as you wish

3. Your piece doesn’t have to be complete, it could be the introduction to a longer piece

4. Don’t worry about spelling, grammar, etc - the exercise is about creativity

5. Be prepared to share your work with the group - reading it out

6. No criticism - keep any comments about other participants work positive - focus on what you like, not what you

don’t

7. Try to incorporate the subject - even if only a reference to it
